INFORMATION
GENERAL
The MELLEN SD series furnace operates at temperatures up to 1800ºC in air. The hot zone of the furnace is extensively engineered by Mellen to ensure reliability and durability. The furnace is economical to operate with field-replaceable heating elements. Both horizontal and vertical orientations are available. Dimensions and wattage requirements vary based on size of the hot zone and maximum temperature.
HEATING ELEMENTS
The furnace utilizes Moly Disilicide heating elements capable of 1800ºC in air. The elements are operated with low surface-watt loading for longer life at elevated temperatures without compromising heat up speed. The heating elements are field-replaceable and are strategically located on to radiate uniformly to the internal chamber. When the furnace is idling at temperature, it is running well below the manufacturer’s recommendations for watt density. This low surface watt loading, plus the location of the heating elements means there are no power restrictions, even during heat up.
Multiple bore shapes are available, including circular, rectangular, or hexagonal.
