INFORMATION

GENERAL

The MELLEN BG series furnace operates at temperatures up to 2800ºC in an inert or vacuum atmosphere. It is a front-loading furnace with a box-shaped hot zone. The furnace utilizes an energy efficient insulation package consisting of high temperature, quality ceramic fiber and graphite insulation. Depending on the use temperature, there are thermocouple or pyrometer vacuum ports for temperature measurement.

The BG furnace comes standard with a vacuum sealed, pivoting door to allow full access to the hot zone. There are ports for gas-in, gas-out standard, and more vacuum ports are available upon request.

This system is equipped with water cooling, and safety shutoffs in the event of over temperature conditions, or an interruption in the cooling lines.

HEATING ELEMENT

The furnace utilizes graphite heating elements capable of 2800ºC in an inert or vacuum atmosphere. The heating elements are located strategically in the furnace chamber to maximize uniformity. The elements are field-replaceable for ease of use.

CONTROLLER

The MELLEN model PS700 temperature control and data acquisition (ADAPT) power supply is recommended for use with MELLEN Graphite furnace systems.

The ADAPT™ Temperature Control System and Data Logger offers unprecedented control stability and real time data acquisition capabilities. The system utilizes a multi-tasking, high-speed, Windows-based personal computer and data acquisition hardware featuring 16-bit A/D resolution. ADAPT has the capability to control a furnace with a very high number of zones, or a large number of furnaces with just a few zones, giving the end user the ultimate in flexibility. It can also be used to control the gas system within the graphite furnace, localizing all controllers to one location.
